What Drives Me Crazy and a GIVEAWAY!

First of all I have to tell you about something that drives me absolutely crazy.  When strangers feel the need to touch Hailey.  I hate it.  People think they need to touch her cheeks, her hands, her hair- just something on her.  They feel like they just need to touch her.  I remember once when she was very little a cashier saying, “Oh she doesn’t need that” as she pulled Hailey’s pacifier out of her mouth.  And anyone who knows me knows that after strangers have been touching Hailey- I will wipe her down and clean her up to get all of their yucky germs off of her.

So, when I saw these shirts at Wordsies I knew I had to have one.  They are just perfect.  Some of my favorite shirts say things like “Look but don’t touch,” “Wash your hands first,” ”My lips are for my mommy,” “Got clean hands?” and of course this one:

Just in case you can’t read it- it says, “If you can read this, you’re too close.”

These shirts are just perfect for anyone like me who doesn’t like strangers touching their baby.  They also have great shirts for moms- my particular favorite says “My Baby My Rules.”

Now the part you’ve all been waiting for- the GIVEAWAY!  Now this is my very first giveaway so I hope you are as excited as I am.  How would you like to win one of these fabulous shirts from Wordsies?  Here’s what you have to do if you want to win.  Click on over to Wordsies, look at their adorable shirts and then leave me a comment to tell me which shirt you like the best.  The winner will receive the “Got Clean Hands?” shirt (sizes range from 3-6 months to 18-24 months).

You do not have to have a blog to enter the giveaway- just be sure you leave a valid email address when you leave your comment so that I have a way to contact you if you don’t have a blog.  (Hey, maybe all of my lurkers will finally leave me a comment)

You do not have to post about the contest on your blog to be entered- but if you do post about it you can come back here and leave another comment with the direct link to your post and you will be entered twice.

I’ll pick a winner on Tuesday, April 22nd at 11:59pm using the random number generator thingee.

My son has hair that sticks up ALL THE TIME so people always want to touch it. I even did a post a while back about a woman who licked her fingers and then touched his hair. People just don’t think. I totally know what you mean… I like the one about “My Lips Are For My Mommy!” Cute! Thanks for the chance!

I LOVE the “Don’t compare me to your baby!” Because Ladybug is such a big baby, people feel the need to comment on her chubbiness.

I guess I’ve been lucky about strangers touching her. Mostly it’s just folks at church, although I do wonder if they’ve washed their hands!

  20. Sugar Cat Says:

You have a great site here… and I have to admit, that my favorite shirt immediately, without any hesitation is “Got Clean Hands?”

I work in an environment, a clinic, but not a health clinic, a voluntary psychiatric clinic, where they are constantly pushing clean hands. How to wash them, how often and how long… The suggestion is to sing, the “Happy Birthday” song completely, when you do wash your hands. We even have hand sanitizers every where you go, bathrooms, dining rooms, and they hand out portable hand sanitizers as well.

    Great blog!

  43. Erika Says:

My favorite is the one your precious daughter is modeling — the “If you can read this then you’re too close” — I can’t stand when people touch my daughter. I once turned around and someone had plucked her paci out of her mouth. I almost lost it.

  44. Reiza Says:

I’ve never seen these before, but I love them.

My sister actually had someone take my niece out of the sling insisting, “Oh, that’s not safe. Put her in the cart instead.” The old bat actually took the baby OUT OF THE SLING.

A friend had a woman at Ren Faire take her son out of the sling when she (the mom) was trying to nurse. She told the stranger, “No, he’s hungry.” The stranger insisted, “Oh, but I”m great with babies. They love me.” Well, this woman was well endowed and wearing a corset which pushed her cleavage up. So when she picked up the baby, he eyed her cleavage (remember, he was hungry), and reached in and actually pulled a breast out. She was mortified, but my friend was vindicated and now she has THE BEST story to tell about nosy strangers. :-)
If that doesn’t teach you to keep your hands off other people’s kids, nothing will. :-)
I need to send her a link to these.

  51. Laura Ch. Says:

I like them all… But my favorite is the ‘if you can read this, you’re too close’. It sums up all the other sayings - as hands, lips, etc shouldn’t be able to reach baby if they are standing back. Too funny! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  52. Martha W Says:

The “Please don’t kiss my lips” would certainly be useful around the family reunion where everyone seems to zero in on my granddaughter. She is that cute but it scares her when someone gets in her face.

  53. Lindsie Says:

I definately like the look but don’t touch shirt.

  54. Amanda C Says:

I love the “Please Don’t compare me to your Baby” shirt. Let each baby be there own. I also love the Got clean hands onsie - I make everyone even my 7 year old wash their hands before they comes near the baby.

  55. Claire Says:

I have to say I love the Got Clean Hands on the best!

  56. Anita Says:

I love the “Look but Don’t Touch” one. People will just come up and start touching my baby, whether he’s in my arms, strapped to my chest in a carrier, or sleeping in his car seat. Yikes!

  64. joan burden Says:

I came across your blog from Hay’s blog. I checked out the shirts. They are great but probably wouldn’t fit my 26 year old son or 29 year old daughter. I see you are losing weight. I have lost 70 pounds in the past year. I still have 120 to go. I have to be in good shape for when my daughter decides to have a baby. Having such an important goal makes it easier. Unfortunately I am disabled because of severe arthritis but I won’t get new knees until I lose more weight. This makes exercising difficult though I will be starting chair yoga soon. Have a great day!

  65. Jenni Says:

I like the “My Baby, My Rules” brown mommy shirt!

  66. Scarlett Says:

I really like “Wash your hands first!”

I like “my lips are for my mommy”

  68. Elizabeth M. Says:

I love the brown My Baby My Rules shirt. Super cute. I like the pink and white one too. I feel the same way you do about getting too close. I remember people felt like they could touch my pregnant belly. They don’t touch it when I’m not pregnant so why would they touch it when I was?

  69. tziona Says:

I love “look but don’t touch”. I live in Israel so I guess being in English most of the “touchers’ won’t get the warning.

  72. Chiara Ascari Says:
